Holiday Giveaway: The Lemonade Cookbook

The holidays are fast approaching and I want to spread a little holiday cheer. I’m giving away a copy of The Lemonade Cookbook, a book filled with recipes from the oh-so-fresh Los Angeles eatery. I stopped there when I was last in LA, had a glass of their lemonade, and soaked up the warm Californian sunshine. It was pretty perfect. This book is a great way to keep the summer feel throughout our colder Canadian winters. The recipes are healthy, a little out of the box and all-around yummy.

The book is filled with fun twists on everyday salads — think lemon-saffron vinaigrette to flavour a simple mix of roasted potatoes and dill, pistachio vinaigrette to dress up a sweet potato salad or a fermented black bean dressing used to drizzle over a cabbage, green apple and sunflower seed salad. The book also has some tasty mains and dessert recipes, but I’m most drawn to the spectacular salads. For me, that is where the book shines.

Now, for the giveaway! To enter the contest, simply leave a comment and let me know what your the best salad you ever had was. The contest ends on December 18th. The winner will be drawn at random and you must be a Canadian or American resident to enter. You can also add a comment on Chocolate Shavings’ facebook page to be entered in the contest a second time. Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you!

This sounds like a great cookbook. I love the cover picture, and anything that helps dispel the cold in Toronto is fine by me! The best salad I’ve ever had would probably be arugula with blue cheese and an apricot vinaigrette. So good!

The best salad I’ve ever had is made by my sister in law. It has greens, strawberries, cucumbers, fresh mozzarella and nuts. I believe she uses a sweet onion dressing.

Just wanted to say thanks for visiting my blog. Hope I see you again soon. This looks like a great book! My favorite salad-I’ve had lots-but I think a grilled panzanella would suffice!

The best salad I’ve ever had was a California Cobb from a Deli in NYC. Salad is great, but it’s even better with bacon!

I love salads, so it is hard to pick my favorite. I guess the one that leaves a lasting impression is one of my first spinach salad that my best friend made. It was spinach, dried cranberries, almond slivers with a raspberry vinaigrette.

Hard to pinpoint a specific great salad but the best kind I love is one that starts with fresh greens (some peppery arugula, preferably) and then layered with some combination of warm ingredients…like roasted sweet potatoes, lentils, chewy grains like wheatberries, edamame, corn, etc. and then anything else like a little chicken or shrimp. I like simple olive oil & red wine vinegar dressing or mustard dressing or balsamic. : ) Sometimes I throw in some pine nuts or almonds – is that too much?

Mixed greens, roasted pears, pecans, smoked gouda and a sweet/sour dressing. I should have asked for the recipe for that salad dressing – so good!!!

Oh! I recently went to Lemonade when they opened a location near me. I would definitely say my favorite salad was from there! Their avocado and cherry tomato salad was a dream!!
